Tail: Marabou plume
Body: Marabou Plume
Wing: Marabou Plume
Tying The Fly
Start thread at hook eye, wrap back to the bend.
Take a long Blood Marabou Plume and preen all the fibers to the top of the plume. The top end will be the tail. Tie in this section leaving about one half of the hook shank of the plume end beyond the hook bend. Fold the rest of the plume back over the tie in point and over wrap. This will cover the tie in wrap. Grasp the plume by the butt end, extend the thread along the plume and twist toward the hook eye..
For a segmented body, twist tight, for a fuzzy body, make less twists. Hold the thread and butt end of the plume and wrap it to just behind the hook eye. This will form the body. Tie off at this point. Lay the rest of the plume back and over wrap to form the head.
Lift what is left of the plume and fuzz it out, this will be the wing. Cut off for the length of the wing that you might want. The wing will be like a streamer wing.
You can add a rib or a bead head if desired.
I like mine with no weight, fish it just under the film surface.
